Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz will be benched by Team Liquid following their performance at the iBUYPOWER Masters this past weekend, according to multiple sources. It is expected that Immortals rifler Lucas “steel” Lopes will replace him for IEM Oakland but unknown how long he will play with the team.

The benching comes less than two weeks after Liquid won the Americas Minor in Toronto, qualifying them for the Major Qualifier in January. Since steel has already participated in the Minor Qualifier, he is unable to play with Team Liquid at the Major Qualifier and the Major.

Stanislaw joined Team Liquid in February after spending over a year with the North American Optic Gaming lineup. Until a few months ago, he was the in-game leader but the team has transitioned the role to Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella. Since then, Liquid has finished runner up at both ESG Mykonos and ESL One: New York. The team is set to play at IEM Oakland and the ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals as they round out 2017.

Update: 11:05 AM

Team Liquid have since confirmed this report, stating that steel will be a permanent member of the team. Manager Steve Perino has explained that Wilton “zews” Prado will play for the team during the Major Qualifier.
