North American Counter-Strike players Sean “seang@res” Gares, Hunter “SicK” Mims, and Shahzeeb “ShahZaM” Khan’s contracts are set to expire with Misfits during the ELEAGUE Major Qualifier in January, according to multiple sources. The trio hope to continue playing with French teammates François “AmaNEk” Delauney and David “devoduvek” Dobrosavljevic, who are under contract until at least March.
As the Qualifier nears closer, the players plan to explore options with other interested organizations. One source explained that Misfits have yet to pursue extending the players’ contracts.
This news comes on the heels of a semifinal appearance at the Season 6 ESL Pro League Finals this weekend. Misfits battled through the group stage and beat HellRaisers 2-0 in the quarterfinals before finishing with a tough loss to SK Gaming. This result marks the best result for the current lineup, who had previously failed to reach the playoffs of a premier event. In the Major Qualifier, sixteen teams will battle in hopes of finishing top eight and qualifying for the ELEAGUE Major in Boston at the end of January. Astralis is another organization with players that have expiring contracts, as reported last week.
